Brighton

BrightonBrighton is located on the south coast of Great Britain. It is known for being a health resort during the 18th century and is a major tourist destination. There are railway stations and coach routes which bring locals and visitors to different places in and around Brighton.

The city also hosts several conferences of the different political parties in Britain, which can include the Brent Socialist Alliance. However, it is the landmarks in Brighton which draw the most crowds. Approximately eight million tourists visit Brighton every year. One such landmark is the Royal Pavilion, which was built in the 1800s as the residence for the Prince Regent.

The Volk’s Electric Runway can also be found in Brighton. It was constructed in 1883 and is presently the oldest operating electric railway in the world. The railway passes the beach and leads from Brighton Pier and passes Black Rock before finally settling at Brighton Marina.

There are a lot of cultural activities in Brighton. The beach alone hosts a number of artists who create many artworks which are then put on display during the annual Brighton Festival. A rich musical environment also supplements the hopping nightlife in Brighton, aided by the fact that there are about 300 pubs in the city.

The city has also been used as a setting in classical novels, the most famous of which is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. The popular former judge in American Idol, Simon Cowell, was born in Brighton. Actor Steve Coogan, known for his roles in Night at the Museum and Tropic Thunder, lives in Brighton. Another actor, Cate Blanchett, known for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth I, lived in Brighton for three years.
